Males
The sperm duct (Vas deferens) is either blocked by mucus or not present :
- Sperm cannot leave testes, cannot fertilise the egg cell
- Fewer sperm present in ejaculate
Females
Mucus plug develops in cervix => the sperm cannot reach the egg cell = BARREN
