Stress Inoculation Training
Form of CBT that is used to identify positive ways to think about a problem.
- Conceptualisation – identify stressors and their response
- Skill acquisition and rehearsal – coping skills taught
- Application and follow through – apply learned skills to other stressful situations

- Self-report isn’t always reliable, may not have worked
- Teach people how to identify stress and develop ways to deal with it, not just covering up symptoms like drugs
- SIT is flexible but not quick, easy or cheap.
- Benefits are long term and deal directly with the stressors
